Why filtration can be difficult
Very fine particles, compressible cake, or rapidly blinded media can reduce filtrate flow. The cause should be confirmed before adding a supporting material.
Two application approaches
In some applications, filter aid is used as a precoat on the media or mixed into the feed as body feed. The correct method depends on the material, equipment, and process target.
Effects on cake and filtrate
A more porous layer may support flow and cake release, but addition also increases solids mass. Clarity, disposal, product, and downstream impacts should be evaluated.
Test compatibility first
Type, dose, safety, and handling should not be inferred from product appearance. Use datasheets, SDS, sample tests, and process approval before application.
