Use a representative sample

The sample should represent the process condition being improved. Record sampling time, location, pH, temperature, appearance, and relevant production changes.

Prepare solutions correctly

Solution concentration, wetting sequence, mixing, and maturation should be consistent for a fair comparison. Clumped or incompletely dissolved polymer can distort results.

Compare one variable at a time

Test candidates or doses under controlled sample volume and mixing. Observe floc formation, released water, clarity, settling, and floc strength.

Carry results into a machine trial

Jar-test results become a starting point for a Filter Press or Screw Press. Actual shear, retention time, pumps, and loading may require further adjustment.
