01

Conditioning before dewatering

In many applications, sludge is mixed with polymer to form separable flocs. Polymer type and dosage should be determined from sludge response rather than a universal number.

02

Thickening zone

Sludge enters the initial screw section. Some free water exits through filtration gaps while the screw moves material toward the next zone.

03

Dewatering zone

Effective space and gaps change along the flow direction, applying gradual pressure to the material. Fixed and moving rings form the filtration section in a multi-disc design.

04

Discharge and result evaluation

Cake exits at the machine end and filtrate is collected below. Cake condition, filtrate, polymer, feed, and operating parameters should be recorded together.
