Pressure-driven solid-liquid separation
A Filter Press separates solids from liquids by feeding slurry into chambers between filter plates covered with filter cloth. Liquid passes through the filtration media as filtrate while solids are retained and form a cake.
Components working as one system
A system commonly includes a frame, plate pack, filter cloth, closing system, feed pump, filtrate lines, valves, a control panel, and a cake discharge area. Its configuration varies with feed characteristics and automation level.
Basic operating cycle
The plates are closed and clamped, slurry is pumped into the chambers, filtrate leaves through drainage passages, and the machine opens after filtration is complete. The cake is then discharged for further handling.
Data required before selecting equipment
Slurry type, solids concentration, daily volume, cake target, filtrate quality, temperature, chemistry, installation space, and utilities should be reviewed. A machine photograph alone cannot determine capacity or configuration.
